The city announced on Wednesday that it will hold a special Parade of Champions to honor the Waipio Little League team, other 2008 national title-holders and past and present Hawaii olympians.

The parade is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Labor Day in Waikiki.

The parade will start at Fort DeRussy and end at Kapiolani Park.

A special Sunset on the Beach event at Queen's Surf Beach at 6:45 p.m. will follow the parade.

So far, the city has confirmed the Waipio Little League World Champions, Olympic gold medalist Natasha Kai, the Royal Hawaiian Band and marching bands from Aiea, Castle, Mililani and Waipahu high schools.

The city asked that present and former Hawaii Olympians and national title-holders interested in participating to contact officials at mayor@honolulu.gov or at the Customer Services Department at 768-3392.
