Johnson Makes Opening Statements At Tourism Conference

HONOLULU -- The head of the Hawaii Tourism Authority opened an annual conference Thursday, five days after embarrassing e-mails came to light and put his job in jeopardy.HTA President Rex Johnson delivered the opening remarks at the fifth-annual Hawaii Tourism Conference.He made no mention of the controversy over X-rated e-mails he received from friends on his government computer, which he then forwarded to other friends.
"As we continue to navigate our way through this volatile year for our state's No. 1 industry, it is important for us to stand together, to work together and focus on the tasks ahead," Johnson said to the audience.The HTA board met again on Thursday morning behind closed doors to determine whether Johnson should be disciplined.A decision is expected to be announced when the full board meets on Tuesday.
