The city's Green-Waste Program is about to expand starting on Tuesday.

The city is delivering the green-waste bins to about 24,000 homes in East Honolulu.

That will affect residents from Kuli'ou'ou to Manoa.

Those who live in Kailua or the North Shore can expect to receive theirs by the end of October.

The green bins are used to collect green waste like yard trimmings.

Blue recycling bins will be delivered along those same routes starting next month. Those are for recyclables such as newspaper, plastics, cardboard and beverage containers.
